Cristian MOCANU

Cristian is a qualified Romanian lawyer in both dispute resolution and consultancy, with focus on insolvency & restructuring, corporate & commercial matters, criminal and white-collar practice, as well real estate, construction, concessions and public procurement matters.

He is appreciated for his groundbreaking approach and pragmatic method. Cristian is keen on understanding the business behind the legal file and therefore always in the best position to provide the most relevant legal advice. He has a pro-business approached backed-up by a broad legal knowledge.

During his career, Cristian advised both local and international Clients, thus building a solid experience in a wide range of industry sectors including constructions, tax, banking, press offences, energy, automotive, IT&C, retail, industrial manufacturing or consumer goods.

Whether he worked as head of litigation department of the Bucharest office of an international law firm or as a senior associate in a top tier Romanian law firm, he represented Clients in various civil and commercial disputes, including disputes between shareholders, administrative disputes and employment disputes. He was implicated in one of the major cases involving the Romanian State and a Dutch company in an arbitration case before ICSID, acting on as counsel of the Dutch entity.

Based on the experience and professionalism gained over time, Cristian got involved in complex insolvency proceedings and white-collar crime investigations (including embezzlement, capital market manipulation and tax evasion), having a high success rate. He also has a broad experience in human rights, especially in the context of criminal and ancillary procedures, both before national courts and the European Court of Human Rights.
